Three Pillars of NEW HMong
Economic Development
We work toward expanding opportunities for individuals within the HMong community to earn sustainable, living wages by building environments that respect and reflect HMong cultural values while creating pathways to meaningful participation in the local economy. This includes supporting HMong farmers, entrepreneurs, and workforce development initiatives that honor cultural relevancy and partnerships that reduce barriers to economic opportunity. The aim is to bridge the gap between traditional economic systems and the lived realities of marginalized communities, ensuring that economic advancement does not require cultural compromise.

Empowering Our Community Together
At NEW HMong, we strive to be a trusted resource for the HMong population in Northeast Wisconsin. We aim to support a flourishing HMong community by offering culturally grounded resources and guidance to help individuals navigate daily life, systems and institutions. Along with meeting everyday needs, we empower the community to achieve their goals and lead healthy, happy lives. Our work is categorized into three pillars, or areas of focus: emerging needs; economic development; and enrichment.

Equity and Emerging Needs
In addressing equity and emerging needs, we focus on increasing the number of individuals in the HMong community who are both aware of and meaningfully connected to physical and mental health resources—not only within traditional medical systems, but also within culturally relevant spaces that promote wellness. This includes informal support structures, peer-led groups, community activities and culturally rooted practices shown to foster positive mental health outcomes. The goal is to reduce isolation, increase access and normalize help-seeking by connecting individuals to a broad spectrum of supports that reflect their lived experiences and cultural values.
